Sorry to say, brought my daughter in to try-left very disappointed! I got pulled pork and she got the sliced brisket. Beef was way to fatty! Definitely not worth $14 , There wasn't even enough beef to fill the bun! HOPE they listen and fix issues!! Or we may have to drive to El Paso for BBQ :(

Four of us decided to check out the food at Mesilla Valley BBQ Co. today. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad, and I had the 2 meat platter with a small section of ribs and hot link sausage. My sides were mac-n-cheese and green chile corn bread. Our friends shared the beef brisket which was very good, but had too much fat included in the meat portion. My wife liked her pulled pork sandwich. I discovered that my taste buds do not prefer the dry rub ribs. Wet BBQ style is my preference. The sausage was good, but I have had better. Mac-n-cheese was good and the green chile corn bread was very good. Service was very good. We will return to try different selections.

I really wanted to like this place...I'm a sucker for local businesses....but no...we didn't...at all. It should be called Mesilla Valley BBQ Sauceless Company because nothing comes with BBQ sauce on it...you have 3 choices (not very good) sauces sitting on the table...who knows for how long. *I had the brisket platter with corn bread and potato salad. I guess I made the mistake of asking for it not sliced, because it looked like it went through a food processor. The meat was just sub par - I have had much better brisket plates purchased at fund raisers. The potato salad is bland, and the corn bread, yet has a nice spicy flavor with jalapenos (I think) was cold...seemed fresh cut out of the fridge. *My husband first ordered the BBQ chicken...but...it is only served at night, the menu does not say that. He settled for a chicken sandwich. It tasted like the roasted chicken from walmart...that has been sitting for a while. Very dry and flavorless. They top it with purple cabbage they call OOH Mami----more like EWWWW Mami. He liked the fries. The sandwich remained un-ate. *My son had a rib plate with mac and cheese and and BBQ beans. Ribs were OK. The mac and cheese was too spicy to eat and no real good cheese flavor. The beans tasted like unflavored pintos. We told the waitress that the beef was ok, but the chicken sandwich was really bad. She didn't say anything, apologize, or offer to take it off our bill. When they bring the bill it is tallied on an electronic device if you use a card in which the waitress will wait there for you to decide your tip (in front of her - with 15, 18, 20% as the only choices) and you sign it with your finger... I do not know which is worse, the bad taste this left in my mouth, or the after taste of dirty grill.. So needless to say this is my last meal at this establishment, but thankfully not my last meal ever or I'd be real sad.

Best everything! Staff are friendly. The owner is a down-to-earth creative genius who works magic with meat.

This is our first time at Mesilla Valley Bbq, we wanted to try something different. Also, today is my mom's birthday and she wanted ribs, so we decided to give them a try. It also happened to be .75 taco Tuesday. The place was packed to the door. We had a choice of beef, chicken or pork. We got a trio. All three were great, absolutely loved them. In fact, we ordered more for the table. My mom had the full rack of ribs. She received a mammoth size serving. She was very happy. The ribs are dry rubbed, just as my mom likes them. The meat was so tender she didn't even need a knife to separate the ribs. The corn bread was spicy and delicious. Overall, the food was good, the price was good and the wait staff was very friendly. We will be back!

This review is from my second visit, my first review was fairly positive but my experience the second visit changed my opinion. I ordered the two meat platter for my wife and I, sliced beef brisket and pulled pork, Monday at 12:30 PM they were out of Brisket. they substituted chopped beef,(it appeared to be the pieces from the slicer and just scraps and the pulled pork was pieced of pork and not pulled pork but small pieces). The meat was not tasty. they might fool some people calling it pulled but it was chopped and very small pieces, I wanted to like it again but not this time and probably will not return. I now understand some of the poor reviews. The wait staff was attentive and helpful and no issues there, The decor is not fancy and very nice,

I was skeptical. Their prices seemed high and BBQ really hit or miss in Las Cruces. This place changed the game for me; no more driving to Texas for the sole purpose of smoky meat treats. The brisket is the only thing I've had and trust me- they do it right. It's such an easy meat to screw up, but they've got it in spades. I can't say it's the greatest of all time and their sauce is a little dodgy, but the fact that they are in Las Cruces, you can have a beer there, and that they DELIVER makes me a once and future customer. Game recognizes game. Good work!

What a surprise!!! Most BBQ joints west of Junction, TX are average to above average. I blame it on the fact that we are too far from the South. Today I enjoyed a true South Texas BBQ plate. I sat down and ate a brisket plate, hot-link sausage, potato salad and BBQ beans. The brisket is slow smoked with the right amount of rub and fat. The sausage was tasty but not overpowering. Potato salad was awesome. Beans great. I got to try the cheddar jalapeño sausage. Good stuff. Overall the plate was as authentic south Texas BBQ as one could get west of the Pecos. The only thing that would have made this meal better would be paper plates, sliced white bread, and Big Red soda. I will be back to try the ribs, vaquero beef sandwich and smoked turkey.

Taco Tuesday best in town. A unique twist on a traditional Las Cruces favorite. Chicken and brisket are moist and full of flavor. The tomatillo salsa is as good as any in town. Friendly attentive service and cool hi tech check out. Thanks Pete!!!

Let me start with the ambience, it's like 1970s decor core met with meth-rancher interior. The sewer smell in the bathroom was exquisite. To be fair not all restaurants can be gauged on décor especially if they are new. Seeing the place relatively busy give me hope. I ordered a simple brisket sandwich, my friend ordered a 2 meat special with ribs plus a hot link, and I ordered a pulled pork sandwich to go, for my wife. The waitress was nice and quick to order and food was priced on the inexpensive side. We waited, and waited and waited and waited. After waiting 40 minutes for our food, (isn't barbecue premade???) my associate pointed out that it was busy because people are probably still waiting for their breakfast. Forty minutes later the food arrived. My Brisket had two pieces of sliced brisket and a bun. I guess it was not underpriced. I can tell you it was the best charred bun of my life. The waitress never checked on us until the bill came due. My associates hot link was drier than a Las Cruces summer windy day. When it came time to render for services provided I pointed out that my partners link did not have an ounce of moisture and was blackened to a crisp. She made a remark but didn't apologize or speak to anybody about it, but she did present the bill. We paid, and prepared to leave. I then took a look at the to-go sandwich (pulled port) for my wife, and since I want to stay married I just left it with the chef. I find this very sad because Las Cruces needs a good barbecue joint. I could go on to describe every experience at the place but that would be like kicking a horse that was not only down...but dead, plus I legitimately feel like I am about to throw up any minute.

Must not need the take-out business! In my book, the surest way to lose customers and find yourself out of business is to ignore your phones and your potential take-out orderers. On Sunday (1/11/2015) I tried calling their phone number 4 times at about 1:15 pm to place a take-out order. Phone went to a voice mail each time. I waited a bit and called a 5th time and finally a live person answered. Evidently their phone is in the kitchen because I could hear a lot of background noise of chopping and pans clanging. The I told the male who answered that I wanted to place a take-out order. He told me to hold on he'd have to get a waitress to take my order. Well, 12 minutes later I'm still on an open phone (listening to the kitchen back ground noise) and waiting for a waitress or anyone to take my order. I even tried for a full minute yelling "Hello, Hello" into the phone hoping someone would hear me and pick up. No luck! So at about the 13 minute mark I gave up and hung up. Ended up ordering a nice take-out lunch for 4 at another restaurant. I was really holding up high hopes for a good BBQ place in Las Cruces; but if you ignore your phone customers like that I wonder if the in-house service will be any better. 1-Star for total lack of customer service!

Had lunch there and liked it a lot. Had the ribs and the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender. The sauces are a nice change from the usual sweeter ones. Will be back for sure.

We had hoped this would be the BBQ restaurant to make us come back. But, unfortunately, it was not. The portions are quite large, which is a plus, and the meat was piled high, but dry as they do not come with sauces. The BBQ sauces to choose from sat on the table, but none really stood out. One of them we had a problem with as the squeeze bottle did not work. The bottles were all kind of sticky, so you really didn't want to touch them. My iced tea was warm, so I assume they just leave it sitting out rather than refrigerate. And, there was a long wait for dinner. The waitress, however, was very friendly and the owner stopped by before we had dinner and welcomed us...which is also a big plus.

Took my wife and parents to the new bbq place in town and was amazed. The pulled pork sandwich was great that I had. My wife was amazed at the burnt ends salad with pickled red onion and a healthy portion of blue cheese crumbles. My mom had the brisket sandwich which was very lean with a large 1/3 pound portion. My father had the hot link sausage platter that tasted great. The waitress told us these were the new ones made in house that they had not been able to make until recently. She also told us all the sausages were made in house. Wil definitely return.

I love this place. The owner, Pete, really knows his BBQ. The pulled pork is my favorite, but everything is pretty much really good. The ribs are fall off the bone tender. The wings are not breaded or fried. They are smoked, and they are delicious. Also, very tender. The vaquero beef sandwich is also very good. The green chile cornbread is really friggin good as well. I urge everyone to go try this place!
